Apologies for my gap in posts! I was in Florida for the last week and scheduled posts for while I was away yet somehow managed to completely mess up and not post enough. I obviously started holiday-mode a little too early.
Well I’m excited to be back blogging again, bought a heap of stuff while away which I will be reviewing in the coming weeks, oh and I’m engaged now! Aah!
Now on to the review. I received this lovely gift set of Boots Extracts Fairtrade Cocoa Butter products for Christmas and was instantly excited. Particularly by the body butter.
I am a long term fan of The Body Shop’s Body Butters but am always put off repurchasing by the steep €18.95 price tag. So I wanted to see if Boots own brand could possibly measure up.
The butter itself is a nice formula – like a thick cream as opposed to The Body Shop’s offering which is a little stiffer to work with. Despite that, it spreads easily across the skin and absorbs very quickly. I would usually give myself a minute or two for it to sink in before getting dressed into my clothes but I usually apply it at night time and find I can instantly put on my pyjamas without them sticking to my skin. My favourite part about this product is the scent. It is a gorgeous natural cocoa smell as opposed to a synthetic chocolate one and it is positively edible. I find putting my pyjamas on immediately after application helps to lock the aroma in and I can smell it for hours afterwards too.
Its promises are simple enough; to intensively moisturise and hydrate, leaving skin soft and smooth. I can attest to all of the above. My skin feels so nourished and supple after use. I absolutely adore this product and cannot fault it. Does it stand up to The Body Shop’s version? Absolutely. I cannot think of a single reason why you should use the more expensive of the two when they do the exact same job.
While €11 may seem a little steep for an own brand product, the body butter is certified Fairtrade as well as being organic and sustainably sourced. If cocoa ain’t your thing, almond, coconut, brazil nut, nectarine, shea butter, vanilla, mango and honey are also available. I will most definitely be checking some of these out in future (more than likely starting with the coconut one!)
What do you think? Are you a fan of body butters? Have you tried Boots’ offering?
